Master of Contemporary Craftsmanship

Gabriella Crespi, legendary master of Italian craft design, once had a series of stunning Sergio Rossi gold thread high-heeled shoes dedicated to her. Stella McCartney is a super fan and collector. And both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal have published features on this intriguing design master.

In the 1960s, Gabriella’s mature and unconventional style made her the muse of fashion designer Valentino. At the same time, Gabriella was working closely with the Dior boutique, who integrated her work into its home and tableware series. The relationship continued for nearly twenty years. Other clients have included Maison Dior, Princess Grace, the Shah of Iran, Thomas Hoving (son of the founder of Tiffany’s, and the force behind the expansion of the Metropolitan Museum of New York), and Elizabeth Arden.
